What is a LinkedIn ghostwriter (and should you hire one)?
Many founders know LinkedIn could bring them clients, partners and hires, but never find time to post consistently. A LinkedIn ghostwriter turns your ideas and experience into posts written in your voice.
What a LinkedIn ghostwriter does
The work usually covers interviewing you for ideas, planning topics, drafting posts and articles, and revising until each piece sounds like you. Some writers also act as a LinkedIn content strategist, helping define themes, audience and posting rhythm.
Is it authentic?
The ideas, opinions and experiences should be yours; the writer helps shape and express them. You approve everything before it is published. That is closer to working with a speechwriter or editor than handing over your identity.
How the collaboration works
A typical rhythm is a regular short interview or voice notes, followed by drafts you review. Over time the writer learns your phrasing and opinions, so revisions get lighter.
- Agree on themes and audience first.
- Share examples of posts you like and dislike.
- Decide who replies to comments and messages.
- Set a review and approval routine you can keep.
When it makes sense
Hiring help is worth considering when you have expertise and stories but not the time or confidence to write regularly, and when LinkedIn reaches the people you want to work with. If you are not ready for ongoing work, start with a small batch of posts to test the fit.
